Meet Elihuruma Wilson, an ecologist & conservationist
I am a doctoral student in Dr. Michael Wilson’s and Dr. Jennifer Power’s labs at the University of Minnesota, working on my Ph.D. in Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior.
My interests are diverse, but they are linked by the common theme of promoting policies, reforms, and practices that harmonize the natural systems and better quality of life for people across all geographies. I enjoy and am motivated to search for knowledge that creatively addresses the current challenges of environmental sustainability. I use various tools, including microbiological techniques, species inventory techniques, environmental education strategies, remote sensing, and geographic information systems (GIS), to extrapolate from fine to coarse spatial scales and connect ecological processes to patterns.
In specific terms, I am interested in understanding how natural systems, such as forests, respond, recover, and persist within a broader context of interaction between humans and the environment
